Introduction to Statistical Investigations, Binder Ready Version leads students to learn about the process of conducting statistical investigations from data collection, to exploring data, to statistical inference, to drawing appropriate conclusions. The text is designed for a one-semester introductory statistics course.

It focuses on genuine research studies, active learning, and effective use of technology. Simulations and randomization tests introduce statistical inference, yielding a strong conceptual foundation that bridges students to theory-based inference approaches. Repetition allows students to see the logic and scope of inference. This implementation follows the GAISE recommendations endorsed by the American Statistical Association. This is an unbound, binder-ready version.

  • Calculus for Business, Economics, and the Social and Life Sciences, Brief Version, Media Update11th Edition

by Laurence D. Hoffmann Senior Vice President – Investments (Author), Gerald L. Bradley Associate Professor (Author), David Sobecki Professor (Author), Michael Price (Author) 4.1 out of 5 stars 67 customer reviews
    ISBN-13: 978-0073532387
    ISBN-10: 007353238X
As a Computer Science Major I had to take this class NOT by choice. However, though I spent hours in the tutoring basement, I came to learn a-lot. The main thing to learn from this book is simply “Find the DERIVATIVE”. This word is literally burned into my head; especially when finding rates of something and remember rules like the “Chain-Rule” that’s a big one too. This math would help a bunch from a business perspective since you calculate the maximums and minimums of equations; like the amount of toys produced to the cost of each toy for example. Then you get into finding Integrals and anti-derivatives around the end of the semester. Obviously this is not all of the subjects but pretty much the main one’s I remember off the top of my head.
Definitely neat the way we used calculus to figure out craziest of things.
I recommend taking Pre-Calculus before attempting this course and to not wait two years like me to take this math after pre-cal.
The book came brand new W/O any CD’s or supplemental answer sheet/Problems.
As always it really depends on the teacher on how you learn this material (Luckily I had a good one). I would of gotten straight A’s on every test if it weren’t for the college giving me probs with credits.
Again, I am NOT an math major and was able to finish this class (Hopefully with an A, we will see next week)
